Curriculum Vitae

1996 to date : Freelance Sound Recordist
Since leaving TaylorMade Productions at the beginning of 1996, I have been self-employed. Work has taken me back into the field for Natural History New Zealand Limited, to various Television New Zealand productions and SKY sports.

1990 - 1996 : TaylorMade Productions
Made redundant by Television New Zealand in 1990, I joined the newly formed production house Taylormade Productions as Sound Recordist in charge of all field, studio and post production sound. Programmes included documentaries, a children's puppet series and a science series.

1988 - 1990 : Senior Post Production Operator
During this period I mixed most of the programmes for the TVNZ Natural History Unit, and undertook some field assignments.

1984 - 1988 : Senior Sound Recordist
As the Natural History Unit expanded, I became more involved in wildlife assignments, both in the field and post production.

1974 - 1984 : Sound recordist for TVNZ
Involved in a wide range of programmes, mainly as a field Film Sound recordist. With the formation of the Natural History Unit in 1978, I worked on the pilot series (Hidden Places) and the first series of Wild South.

1970 - 1974 : Outside Broadcasts
Attached to the Dunedin Outside Broadcast Unit, involved in a range of tasks, mainly on Sports OBs.

1969 - 1970 : Technical Trainee
In 1969 I joined the then NZBC (New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation) as a Technical Trainee. Training involved working at a number of posts (including Television and Radio Transmitters, Radio and Television Studios, and TV Outside Broadcast unit) whilst studying for Radio Technicians Certificate, which I passed in 1970.
